The meter
Kamstrup MULTICAL® 21
Our workhorse domestic meter is the Kamstrup MULTICAL 21, an
ultrasonic cold-water meter engineered in Denmark.
Instead of a spinning impeller, it sends ultrasound pulses through
the water, with the flow and against it. The tiny difference in
travel time gives the exact flow rate. No moving parts means nothing
wears out, so it doesn't under-read as it ages the way mechanical
meters do, and it stays accurate at the very low flows where leaks
hide.
It's fully sealed, runs on its own battery, and transmits every
reading. There is nothing to open, wind, or read by torchlight.

The journey
From pulse to payment

Measure
The meter measures continuously and logs your cumulative reading,
plus the condition of the installation itself.

Transmit
Every hour the reading travels straight to the Hadeda platform over
the Sigfox low-power network, or Kamstrup's READy fixed network in
high-density buildings. Nobody visits your meter.

Watch
The app turns readings into hourly-to-yearly charts, and our
platform checks every unit for trouble before it becomes a bill.

Bill
At month-end the readings become an accurate per-unit bill at your
property's tariff, delivered and paid in the app on the 1st.
Built-in alarms
The meter tells us when something is wrong
Alongside every reading, the MULTICAL 21 reports info codes about the
installation, and our platform turns them into alerts:
Leakwater never stops flowing, even at night: the classic silent toilet or garden leak
Burstabnormally high continuous flow: a pipe has let go
Dryno water in the pipe: a supply or plumbing problem
Reversewater flowing backwards through the meter
Tampersomeone has interfered with the meter
Optional add-on
Add a smart valve: a tap you can close from anywhere
Alongside the meter, we can fit a Hadeda smart valve on the same
line, so the water supply can be shut off remotely, without anyone
driving to the property.
Close the supply the moment a leak or burst alert comes in, before it floods the unit below
Protect empty homes: shut the water when a unit stands vacant or you're away
Reopen it just as easily when the plumber is done
